Network monitoring, routing, and resource management are the critical components for efficient operation, implementation and integration of mobile network. Vyatta, a provider of open networking and network virtualization solution, partnered with HotLava Systems to maximize gigabit and 10 gigabit port density on Vyatta (News - Alert) routing and security appliances. According to press release, Vyatta will offer HotLava's four-port 10 gigabit Ethernet and six-port 1 gigabit Ethernet interface cards as optional add-ons to the Vyatta appliance family.
Bill Young (News - Alert), CEO of HotLava, said that the common goal of delivering high-performance, low-cost alternatives to the marketplace make Vyatta and HotLava perfect partners and the company is excited to work with Vyatta to offer high-performance networking using x86-based servers and accessories.
Driven by virtualization and cloud computing, 1 gigabit and 10 gigabit connectivity are requirements in today's datacenter, with over one million 10 gigabit Ethernet ports shipping in the second quarter of this year according to IDC (News - Alert). By installing HotLava Systems' Shasta, Bosavi and Tambora adapters, IT managers can now scale Vyatta appliances up to 28 1GbE Ethernet ports or 16 10GbE Ethernet ports.
With the installation of HotLava Systems' Shasta, Bosavi and Tambora adapters, IT managers can now scale Vyatta appliances up to 28 1 gigabit Ethernet ports or 16 10 gigabit Ethernet ports. This expanded port density and high-speed connectivity enables more cost-effective scaling of network capacity and is ideal for high-performance edge networking and large data centers.
Tom McCafferty, vice president of marketing at Vyatta, said this partnership drives new market opportunities for Vyatta's x86-based routing and security devices in more data-intensive environments, such as virtualized datacenters and public/private cloud infrastructures, HotLava's adapters provide the flexible connectivity options our customers need to ensure optimal network performance under the most demanding conditions.
HotLava Systems' cards have completed qualification and performance testing and are available immediately from Vyatta sales and the Vyatta Web store. The four-port 10GbE adapter card starts at $1,425. The six-port 1 gigabit Ethernet adapter card starts at $545. Also available from Vyatta is a complete line of Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) and Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus (SFP+) Transceiver Modules including SX, LX, ZX and SR, LR, ER modules.
Recently, Vyatta announced the Vyatta Service Provider Partner Licensing or VSPL program.
