JDSU releases 40/100G Optical Transmission Components

By Mandira Srivastava, TMCnet Contributor

The transmission network expansion planning is a crucial part of power system planning. JDSU has introduced new 40G and 100G optical components, providing a cost effective solution for network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) high speed data transmission requirements.

The recent offerings from JDSU's (News - Alert) transmission components portfolio include: 40G QPMZ Modulators supporting DP-QPSK coherent detection, 40G Coherent Receivers supporting DP-QPSK coherent detection, 40G DDMZ Modulators supporting DPSK direct detection, 40G DPMZ Modulators supporting RZ-DQPSK direct detection, 100G QPMZ Modulators supporting DP-QPSK coherent detection and 100G Coherent Receivers supporting DP-QPSK coherent detection.

According to a press release, the new modulators and receivers help to further expand JDSU's broad optical portfolio for high speed transmission, which currently provides solutions for 10G, 40G and 100G client and line-side applications.

JDSU offers diverse technologies that enhance the way people experience the world every day. The company enables fast, high-quality communications, secure financial transactions, reliable consumer electronics, green energy, differentiated brands, and a host of other solutions.

Tom Fawcett, senior director of transmission products at JDSU, commented that it is the latest step in the continuous expansion of its transmission components portfolio and these new additions allow for collaborative work with customers, as they are developing new solutions to meet the explosive demand for bandwidth.

JDSU's ability to leverage in-house fabrication capabilities in Indium Phosphide, planar lightwave circuits (PLCs), and Lithium Niobate materials offers high performance and cost competitive component solutions—across these various data formats and data rate.

These products will be on display as JDSU exhibits its optical components at booth #1401 during the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC) in Los Angeles, CA (News - Alert) from March 8-10.

In other company news, TMCnet reported that JDSU, in conjunction with the BICSI (News - Alert) Winter Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, has introduced its next-generation cable certifier, the JDSU Certifier40G.
