Silver Peak (News - Alert) Systems has rolled out their new WAN optimization appliance called NX-10000 (NX-10K), belonging to company’s full range of physical and virtual WAN optimization appliances.

Being first of its kind, the new Peak NX-10K is a multi-gigabit-per-second (Gbps) WAN optimization appliance is built for next-generation data centers supporting cloud and virtualization architectures. It is built to offer most-scalable and cost-effective WAN optimization for data center and branch office deployments.

The new release can be incorporated with two-rack-unit (2U) form-factor, offering highest capacity WAN optimization appliance with the smallest footprint and also saves space and minimizes cooling and power in the data center.

The appliance supports 2.5 Gbps of WAN bandwidth with 256,000 simultaneous sessions -- the largest capacity of any WAN optimization appliance. The NX-10K appliance includes a 1.6 terabyte resilient local data store using solid state drives (SSDs), and includes four 10 Gbps Ethernet interfaces to simplify networking deployments in data centers configured for 10 Gbps connectivity.

Damon Ennis, vice president of product management and field engineering for Silver Peak said that their company continues to prove itself as the data center class WAN optimization leader and being the first to deliver gigabit WAN optimization on physical and virtual appliances, and today raising the bar with the industry's first multi-gigabit WAN optimization appliance.

The company is currently offering the newly released NX-10K and the entire family of Silver Peak physical and virtual WAN optimization appliances from Silver Peak, Silver Peak's extensive network of reseller partners, and Silver Peak's global resale partners including Hitachi Data Systems (News - Alert) (HDS), Dell, and EMC. Silver Peak provides customers the most flexible options for deploying WAN optimization in any environment.

The Silver Peak's family of physical and virtual WAN optimization appliances starts at $2,995, and pricing for the new NX-10K for next-generation data centers is $299,995, said the company officials.

Silver Peak's WAN optimization solutions is best suited for large IT initiatives, including data center consolidation, data migration, cloud computing, disaster recovery, server centralization, and hosted virtual desktops (VDI).
