Redbridge College Moves Accounting Services to the Cloud

Redbridge College is moving its accounts receivable capabilities to the cloud using Advanced Computer Software Group’s accounting software solutions. This will help to bring down the costs, while streamlining its processes.

The school announced that it would be bringing its accounting software in the cloud, with plans to migrate everything over by the end of May 2014. The idea is to keep what the college uses, but help make it into an all-in-one service that anyone on campus with proper access can use no matter what building they are in.

The financial team currently uses OpenAccounts for budget monitoring, online ordering, invoice approval and requests, expense payments, and general ledger. In addition, the team takes advantage of eBIS to facilitate the flow of information around the college and is used to store documents electronically.

The plan is to take all of these applications and upload them onto a secure server hosted through Advanced’s UK-based data center to help manage it from all angles.

Ashley Garner, Assistant Principal for Teaching, Learning and Assessment, Redbridge College said, “Advanced’s OpenAccounts finance system has already significantly improved our efficiency and financial decision making. However, migrating these business-critical applications to the cloud is a key aspect of our on-going strategy to safeguard data and ensure continuity in the event of disaster or power outage. The migration will also reduce time and expenses and enable the IT team to focus more on supporting and training students and staff.”

The managing director of their Advanced Business Solution, Simon Fowler, agrees with Garner saying that by migrating everything online to the cloud, the college will be able to manage the work and expenses involved in maintaining their own infrastructure “enabling their IT team to concentrate on strategic development and supporting staff and students.”
