NORTHWIND Teams with Shift4 for an Integrated EMV Solution
June 24, 2014
NORTHWIND is a provider of resort hotel software. Maestro PMS is its resort software and boutique hotel software solution. The company recently partnered with Shift4 Corporation, a developer of enterprise payment solutions, to integrate EMV payments with its Maestro PMS.
"NORTHWIND partnered on our EMV initiative with Shift4, as they are uniquely positioned to satisfy the needs of our Canadian clientele. Shift4 has proven to be an excellent, forward-thinking partner and our clients consistently recognize the value of our combined offering," said Warren Dehan, President of NORTHWIND-Maestro PMS.
Shift4 Corporation’s DOLLARS ON THE NET (News - Alert) solution provides merchants with real-time electronic payment authorization, auditing, reporting, and settlement functionality. It provides the access, control, and flexibility required to enable high speed and low cost transactions.
The integrated solution will not only save time for staff, but Shift4's DOLLARS ON (News - Alert) THE NET payment gateway will also provide improved auditing tools, fraud prevention technologies, enhanced security, increased reliability, and a host of other benefits.
PMS vendors have been facing a bit of challenge in terms of cost and complexity involved with certifying an integrated EMV payment solution. So, NORTHWIND was looking at a solution to make the process simpler and cost effective to implement.
"Thanks to the unique infrastructure at Shift4 and the patented technology within our Universal Transaction Gateway (News - Alert), we’re able to extend our existing EMV certifications to any merchant who completes a debit certification with us," said Shift4 CEO Dave Oder.
Since Maestro already had that certification, very little time or development was required to settle with an integrated EMV solution. The company is said to have saved months of development time and more than $100,000 in costs by leveraging the technologies of payment gateway provider Shift4 Corporation
This certification will also carry over to the U.S. and will allow Maestro users ready for U.S. EMV long before the October 2015 liability shift. Shift4, said the company will complete U.S. EMV certification as soon as a full spec is made available by the processors.
