Telecom hardware and software provider Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert), has just unveiled the winners of its 2010 Top Application Contest, which honors companies that create the best next-generation products and applications for the communications space.

Sangoma manufactures IP communication-related components for telecom and datacom applications. The company's data boards, voice boards, gateways and related software are used in a myriad of VoIP technologies, many of which are based on open source platforms such as Asterisk (News - Alert).

The recipient of this year's top application award for North America is Commetrex Corporation, creator of the BladeWare HMP telephony platform, which is used by OEMs to implement fax servers, gateways, media servers, IVR systems and other technologies in IP and TDM networks. Bladeware is interoperable with all Sangoma analog and digital telephony boards for Linux and Windows.

Sangoma, which has its roots in open source technologies like Asterisk, handed out its Latin American award to ezVoice Telecom, a Brazilian VoIP carrier founded in 2005. The company was honored for its digital and analog call recorders, known as ezRecorders. These products are designed to record conversations on analog and E1/T1 lines without the need for human intervention.

The top application contest winner for the APAC region was Krishna TeleSoft, creator of OnlineVoIPSolutions.com, an India-based provider of packet voice and VoIP products for enterprise and carrier implementations. The firm was recognized for its custom call center solution.

Sangoma's final award was given to Intellicom for its Contact Centre UCx, an end-to-end contact center and directory enquiry delivery system.

"We were overwhelmed by the number of responses that we got when we initially announced the Top Application Contest back in December," Jeff Dworkin, director of marketing for Sangoma, noted in a statement. “This really demonstrated the size, depth and level of participation of our community. In the future, Sangoma will be doing more to showcase the outstanding talents found in our community of users.”

Each of the four companies that received the award will have the opportunity to showcase their product or application during a May 16 Sangoma-sponsored webinar. The recipients beat out more than 70 other companies from around the world to take home the honor.
