TMCNet Asterisk Week in Review

It was a big week in Asterisk (News - Alert), and coverage of a variety of Asterisk-based products emerged from all corners over the last seven days. But worry not, as we've got just what you need to make the picture a lot more manageable with our Asterisk Week in Review!

First off came reports that VoIP Supply LLC had begun stocking the Sangoma NetBorder Lync Express server as part of its standard product lineup. This in turn gives users a way to make their unified communications deployments a lot simpler than they would have been ordinarily. Since it works with Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync 2010, offers a great way to not only do the job simply, but to do so using familiar tools that require little cross-training as a result.

Next came word that independent community pharmacies were about to get a significant boost to their operations on the strength of a new release known as TalkRx. TalkRx provides not only a wide variety of new and useful services for pharmacies--including some that are on par with much larger national chains like Interactive Voice Response systems--but also allows for easy installation and integration with current components. This makes pharmacies better able to serve customers, giving them a sorely-needed edge in the face of growing competition.

A report from Q-Suite came in next, which detailed the addition of a new playback API--Application Program Interface--to its CTI library. This allows developers to take advantage of new .NET (News - Alert) and socket API tools into their console applications, making sure that recordings can be played back at any time during an interaction with a customer. This also helps reduce development time for new applications like ACD and Asterisk-based dialer-driven applications in general.

Kerio Technologies was the subject of the next report, which detailed the launch of Kerio Operator 2.0. The new version of Kerio Operator represented the most advanced version of its business phone system yet, using VoIP to make calling simpler, and also bringing in a variety of advanced features along with it. Better yet, it comes available as either a software appliance for custom hardware, or as one of two different hardware appliance configurations.

Finally came reports that TelOnline's (News - Alert) newest customer solution had emerged, and brought together not only Asterisk, but also SIP trunking and CRM. Their first target for such an impressive combining of technologies was the mattress manufacturer Colchones El Dorado, and the early word suggested that the mattress maker was extremely happy with the package. Colchones El Dorado was satisfied as well with the package's ability to improve customer contact and collaboration across department lines.

All this, and more, took place just this week in the Asterisk sector, and as such, it's always a good idea to keep an eye on our global online community, which is constantly on the hunt for fresh Asterisk news to bring your way. So keep it right here, and be sure to join us next week for another Week in Review to cap it all off and give you the high points of the week that was in Asterisk!
