LiteScape (News - Alert) Technologies announced today that it’s recruited Gary Griffiths, the former president of products and operations at WebEx, as its new president and chief executive officer.

Griffiths succeeds Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Farzad Naimi, who will continue to be actively involved in the company, according to LiteScape officials.

Griffiths is a 25-year veteran of the high-tech industry and has played a key role in Cisco’s (News - Alert) $3.2 billion acquisition of WebEx, according to the company. He served as the chief executive officer of on-demand application company Everdream, which was acquired by Dell, prior to joining WebEx. He co-founded SegaSoft Networks in 1996, and held senior management positions with IBM (News - Alert) for more than 18 years, according to LiteScape officials.

LiteScape executives say that Griffiths’s expertise as one of the industry’s great leaders makes him an invaluable asset to help scale the company from early-stage start-up to future industry giant. It also will allow the company more to concentrate more on its global relationships and key strategic partners, according to LiteScape officials.

Griffiths said it is an honor to assume the role of chief executive officer at one of the industry’s true visionary companies, with the opportunity to work with such an accomplished team. He said that LiteScape is correctly positioned to provide important applications, helping companies to realize their investments in UC hardware and software technology, as the Unified Communications (News - Alert) is set for an explosive growth.

Griffiths said that LiteScape can unleash the power of truly unified computing and telephony devices just as the Personal Computer created a massive business on the strength of applications that unlocked personal productivity.

LiteScape is the only company that UC-enables application and infrastructure providers within the UC ecosystem, unifying leading Directory, CRM, PBX and SaaS applications with the IP devices people use to communicate.

“The LiteScape Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Gary Griffiths onboard,” said Arjun Gupta of TeleSoft. “Gary’s proven track record building a solidly competitive product line at WebEx and Cisco – as well as his entrepreneurial success in two Silicon Valley start-ups – make him the ideal candidate to scale LiteScape to the top of this emerging industry.”
