Zoho, a division of AdventNet (News - Alert), reportedly has released the latest version of its online instant messaging software, Zoho (News - Alert) Chat 2.0.
Featuring new multi-protocol support, the Zoho Chat 2.0 facilitates its users to chat with members on Yahoo!, Google (News - Alert), MSN, AIM, ICQ, and Jabber-based IM networks. With this, users can automatically log into the above messaging networks and chat with those users as well.
Also, the latest version of Zoho Chat has features such as chat history, embed chat, calendar integration, audio notification, background images and buzz.
Zoho Chat 2.0 allows users to search their entire chat history. It can provide reviews of all chat transcripts - with all users at any point in time. The chat box can be embedded in to user’s website/blog that will allow them to communicate live with site visitors. Even background images can now be set with in-built or custom images.
In addition to file transferring using chat, Zoho Chat 2.0 lets users view notifications such as offline messages, document sharing messages, and more on the feeds section. Users can buzz any IM network user with an audio notification that indicates chat status. They will be notified by audio notification alert when they receive chat messages in inactive tabs.
Zoho said that its latest Chat application is integrated with company’s entire product suite, so that users can chat from any Zoho application, while the Zoho Meeting integration with the chat application facilitates users to instantly start a meeting and share the desktop with users from other IM networks with a single click. Calendar integration into Chat is also provided that displays existing events as well as enables users to add new events right from Zoho Chat.
“Chat is an important messaging system that complements our productivity and business applications. It is the common thread that ties together different Zoho Applications,” said Raju Vegesna, Zoho evangelist. “With multi-protocol support in Chat 2.0, Zoho users can chat with members of other IM networks and continue their conversations no matter which Zoho application they are in. There are many IM clients that let you chat with users of other IM networks. However, the uniqueness of Zoho Chat 2.0 is that it ties into all Zoho Apps making messaging a part of your workflow and making you more productive.”
Zoho claims that till date it has launched 19 different applications – from CRM to mail, reports, and wikis. It has also received 2008 PC World “25 Most Innovative Products Award” and 2007 TechCrunch “Best Enterprise Start-up” awards.
