LifePics has released its Open Photo Ecommerce Network program to drive more orders to LifePics retailers from all over the Internet.
This program allows application developers and affiliate partners to drive new users, images and orders into the LifePics Retail Network and pays a revenue share percentage to OPEN (News - Alert) program partners for each order the partner makes.
LifePics new OPEN program is scheduled for a formal launch to the industry this month. According to a release, the $100 certification fee will be waived by LifePics for the first 3 months after the PMA convention.
Associate Director at InfoTrends Alan Bullock said that OPEN APIs can encourage development of a range of applications that the vendors alone may never imagine and cited Apple’s iPhone (News - Alert) platform as an example.
According to Bullock, LifePics is taking its service to the next level with this program and remove traditional boundaries in terms of consumers’ access to their photos and where orders to its retail photo printing network can come from.
Application developers will be provided access to the LifePics API once accepted into the program to link into the LifePics Network. A simple string of code will be provided to affiliate partners that sends users into the LifePics Network from the affiliate site or software tool.
Links to present applications and affiliate sites will be released as a reference for potential OPEN program partners. This will include the LifePics iPhone application, the first application launched by a third party. Soon, LifePics will launch Android application, also integration with Facebook (News - Alert), Flickr and Arcsoft Medialmpression, all coming from the OPEN program.
More affiliates and applications are scheduled for launch this year.
