Avistar Communications and ilink Kommunikationssysteme will demonstrate the Avista C3 (News - Alert) Conference for IBM Lotus Sametime solution at an upcoming trade event in Hannover.

“Together ilink and Avistar (News - Alert) have developed and integrated a powerful and cost effective all-software MCU that is seamlessly integrated with IBM Sametime, said Carsten Gericke, CEO of ilink, adding that this allows users to leverage their investment in IBM (News - Alert) Sametime while lowering their MCU and multiparty videoconferencing costs.

To users of IBM Lotus Sametime solution, Avistar C3 Conference provides the ability to conduct continuous presence multiparty videoconferences and connect with standards-based third-party room systems. Company officials said that the solution is integrated via IBM’s TCSPI interface, developed in cooperation with ilink.

Since the Avistar C3 Conference for IBM Lotus Sametime solution is built on all-software architecture, it is available at a fraction of the cost of traditional hardware-based MCU solutions, said company officials.

Stephen Epstein (News - Alert), CMO of Avistar, said that the company’s all-software Avistar C3 Conference for IBM Lotus Sametime solution delivers continuous presence multiparty videoconferencing at a much lower price point than traditional hardware-based MCUs.

“This allows IBM Lotus Sametime users to experience an affordable and yet expansive multiparty videoconference solution that is interoperable with their IBM Lotus Sametime video endpoints and room solutions, Epstein said.

Additionally, the company’s partnership with ilink helps it to provide a solution that users of IBM Lotus Sametime need: the ability to cost-effectively and seamlessly extend the desktop videoconferencing experience for Lotus Sametime users.
