Accela Mobile Office Application Available for Application on Panasonic Toughbook U1

Accela (News - Alert) recently announced that it would make available its Accela Wireless for the Panasonic Toughbook U1. The Panasonic Toughbook U1 is an ultra mobile personal computer (UMPC) which has integrated the Intel (News - Alert) Atom processor. Taking handheld computing to another level, it will provide the features of a full-size Toughbook PC on a UMPC, so it can be conveniently used anywhere.

Accela provides Web-based enterprise software solutions that help agencies efficiently provide customers with easy access to government services without increasing their workload. The Accela Wireless mobile government software application allows government personnel to carry out inspections, code enforcement, work orders, and service requests from the field.
“Accela provides a complete mobile office application for state and local government agencies that want to empower their mobile workforce,” said Kyp Walls, director of product management, Panasonic (News - Alert) Computer Solutions Company.
“The combination of Accela Wireless and the lightweight, tireless Toughbook U1 provides government agencies reliable access to critical information wherever their work takes them.”
The Toughbook CF-U1 operates on the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems and provides users with easy remote access to software applications within the field. Its backlit QWERTY keyboard (Sholes keyboard) provides additional user-friendliness by making the task of data input thumb- friendly and faster. Panasonic’s LCD (Liquid-Crystal Display) technology utilizes low power white LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlighting and ensures that sunlight does not hamper viewability.
The Toughbook CF-U1 includes protection via a magnesium alloy chassis and provides users with two long-lasting hot-swappable batteries that allow for replacement of battery without disturbing the operations. Also, since it designed to suit all weathers and has no in-built fan, it not only makes less noise but also reduces the weight of the device while increasing its operating temperature range.
While the Accela Wireless Version 6.5 is currently available, the Panasonic Toughbook U1 UMPC will be globally available from August, 2008. The Toughbook U1 will be available in the United States through authorized Panasonic resellers at an estimated street price of $2,499.
