Capture HD photos with quadricopter [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Question: What is it Answer: The Parrot Ar Drone 2.0 is a smartphone-controlled flying quadricopter built by French company Parrot. It can be controlled via an iOS or Android device with the use of Wi-fi.

Question: What can it do Answer: While it is mainly designed as a toy, it can be used to take aerial photos as well. It has a built- in main 720p HD camera mounted forward and another QVGA camera mounted underneath. There are virtual reality augmented games that allow two or more Parrot Ar drones to battle it out in real time, while firing imaginary rockets at each other.

Double tap the screen, and the drone does a midair flip. Its flight altitude is limited by Wi-fi range. It can easily fly up to 160 feet, and take aerial pictures of your house from angles you have never seen before. You can also take pictures and videos of events like weddings and others from entirely new perspectives.

Question: How does it work Answer: Download the AR FreeFlight 2.0 app to your iPhone, install the battery on the quadrocopter, launch the app, and you're ready for your first flight.

The quadricopter uses a variety of sensors and powerful processor to keep it steady. Operation is very straightforward. Controlling the quadricopter is like playing a mobile phone game - tilt the device to control movement. You see the view from the drone's point of view, so it's much like playing a 3D flight sim. The aircraft has a pressure sensor that keeps its height stable up to heights of 164 feet without much fuss. If you let your drone get out of Wi-fi range, it doesn't drop to the ground, but hovers in place until you get back within range.

Question: What are some of its features Answer: The drone has a special hull if you want to use it indoors to avoid hitting people with the blades.

The camera is a wide angle lens with 92 degree diagonal view. You can take video storage on the fly with a remote device or with a USB 2.0 key. The AR Drone runs on the 1 GHz 32-bit ARM Cortex A8 processor and 1 GB DDR2 RAM at 200MHz running on Linux 2.6.32 Question: How long does the battery last Answer: The AR Drone's battery takes between an hour and an hour-and-a-half to fully charge, and from that you will get some 15-25 minutes of continuous flight.

Question: Where can I buy it Answer: It is available at Hobby Sportz, Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya.
