Can two-way video become standard fare for Web surfers?
One start-up this week is making an interesting bid to do just that by unleashing a video chat product that makes it both easy and inexpensive for site operators to weave live video communications into their Web destinations.
San Francisco-based TokBox is taking the wraps off a new platform – dubbed OpenTok – that gives Web developers access to free software and services for embedding video chat into otherwise static Web sites.
“At the end of the day, we think this will change the way people will look at video communications on the Web,” says TokBox (News - Alert) Chief Executive Officer Ian Small.
