Cisco's MOVE Solutions Helps Service Providers Monetize, Optimize Mobile Video Experience

In an effort to help service providers to monetize as well as optimize the video experience across wireless networks and drive the mobile network, Cisco, a company offering diversified networking solutions, has launched a new strategic framework, Cisco MOVE.


Representing the next phase of Cisco's (News - Alert) Service Provider Mobility strategy, the new Cisco MOVE (Monetization, Optimization, Videoscape Experience) is a suite of new solutions covering the mobile network, from client to network to cloud. These solutions are designed to address the increasing volume of mobile data traffic, especially video.

According to Cisco, the new Cisco MOVE framework facilitate service providers to better manage, enhance as well as take financial advantage of the rapidly growing volume of mobile video and data traffic.

Currently, the new Cisco MOVE framework comprises of Cisco Mobile Videoscape, Cisco Service Provider WiFi (News - Alert) and Cisco Adaptive Intelligent Routing (AIR).

The Cisco Mobile Videoscape allows mobile operators to deliver an enhanced mobile video experience to customers via a new technology on the Cisco ASR 5000 and Cisco Unified Computing System platforms, which links the mobile network to the larger video distribution network powered by the Cisco Content Delivery Network capabilities of Cisco Videoscape.

Enabling service providers to efficiently utilize WiFi for mobile data offload, the new Cisco Service Provider WiFi Solution is an end-to-end, carrier-grade solution. Along with Cisco Next Generation Hotspot technology, it facilitates in the delivery of a host of new services and new mobile experiences.

Featuring the new Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Outdoor Wireless Access Point (News - Alert) with Cisco CleanAir technology, the new Cisco Service Provider WiFi Solution allows service providers to provide low-cost capacity and highly secure coverage in targeted areas such as outdoor sporting venues and transportation corridors. It also helps in offloading heavy mobile traffic loads. 

The Cisco Adaptive Intelligent Routing (AIR) helps in reducing the cost of mobile data traffic by offering service intelligence throughout the network. It distributes and shares network and customer intelligence broadly by expanding across the Cisco ASR 1000, Cisco ASR 5000 and Cisco ASR 9000 platforms.

Some of the key benefits offered by Cisco MOVE to service providers include self-healing; self-optimizing; offloading cellular, video, and data traffic onto a WiFi network; enhanced personalization and customization of the mobile video experience; smooth migration path to IPV6-capable infrastructure; and more.

Apart from service providers, consumers can also benefit from the new Cisco MOVE. Some of the benefits offered by Cisco MOVE to consumers include better mobile video experience; better WiFi experience with high performance and high reliability; customized and personalized mobile experience; and more.

In a press release, Ash Dahod, senior vice president and general manager, Mobile Internet Technology Group, Cisco, said, "MOVE is the next phase of Cisco's Service Provider Mobility strategy, which was introduced at last year's Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) after Cisco acquired Starent Networks. “

Dahod added, “As mobile operators work to manage and take advantage of the mobile video tidal wave, they are increasingly looking for monetization and optimization techniques that will move their bottom line and enhance their customer experience. We are addressing this with our Mobile Videoscape solution, Adaptive Intelligent Routing and Service Provider WiFi solution. Each of these solutions allows the mobile operator to deliver higher quality, lower the cost and differentiate the video experience."
