Cryptography Research announced that Verimatrix (News - Alert) has licensed its CryptoFirewall security core technology for building advanced solutions to protect video delivery revenue streams.

A division of Rambus (News - Alert) Inc., Cryptography Research develops and licenses innovative technologies for tamper resistance, content protection, network security, and financial services.

In a release Tom Munro, CEO at Verimatrix said, “Content piracy and theft of service are major commercial concerns for our system operator customers, as well as the community of content owners.   We are continually evolving our layered approach to embedded security to stay ahead of potential attacks.”

Cryptography Research’s technologies have an excellent reputation for securing content, and the CryptoFirewall core complements and reinforces Verimatrix's full range of revenue security solutions,” Munro added.

Verimatrix specializes in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services. The company will leverage the CryptoFirewall which is a self-contained ASIC security core that provides a secure hardware foundation for signal security applications.

According to Cryptography research this core is especially designed to protect cryptographic keys and computations within a chip in case of security breaches also. As the CryptoFirewall core is integrated directly into video decoding system-on-chips it is capable of ensuring a robust solution that matches conditional access (CA (News - Alert)) solutions.

Paul Kocher, president and chief scientist at Cryptography Research commented, “We are pleased to support Verimatrix’s leading digital TV software-based security solutions. Our hardware cores help provides a solid and cost-effective foundation that enables software security technologies to more effectively address threats to service revenue.”

In related company news Verimatrix announced that it will be demonstrating its technical and commercial momentum in multiplatform revenue security at IBC 2011 that is scheduled to take place between Sept. 9th and13th, 2011.
