DTS Partners with ATEME for Bandwidth-efficient Audio

In today’s connected world, Video on Demand (VoD) is taking the communications industry by storm. Nowadays, audio is just as important as video. DTS has joined with ATEME, a provider of efficient video compression technology, adding DTS (News - Alert) Neural Surround technology to its TITAN range of video transcoders.

With this new offering, broadcasters and service providers can now provide premium entertainment content enriched with top quality audio, the company stated in a press release.

DTS will use its Neural Surround technology in this new offering. DTS Neural Surround bridges the gap between stereo and surround sound audio. With the help of a special capture, edit, management and delivery process, products with the DTS Neural Surround technology provide easy conversion between stereo and surround sound audio.

While surround sound content is also preserved within the stereo environment, stereo and surround audio can be presented in a consistent, rich surround environment. This technology has the ability to provide premium surround sound experience, without expanding broadband bandwidth.

TMC’s (News - Alert) Oliver VanDervoort recently reported the company will showcase its latest products at the 2012 NAB show. The event will take place from April 16-19 in Las Vegas. DTS has a variety of different solutions for accompanying technology, including IPTV (News - Alert) and digital delivery of music and television and movie audio.
