RealVNC (News - Alert), a company that promotes, enhances and commercializes Virtual Network Computing, a graphical desktop sharing system, has reportedly introduced VNC Viewer, an essential application for the iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod touch that will help users to connect to and take full control of their computer from anywhere in the world.

With the help of VNC Viewer for iPhone and iTouch, users will be able to run applications, access documents and change settings on any Mac OS X, Windows, Linux or UNIX computer just as if they were sitting in front of it, right from their iPhone and iPod touch users. The application can be downloaded from the App Store at http://itunes.com/apps/vncviewer.

The new application will also help the users in viewing Flash-based web sites, and copying and pasting text between applications on their mobile device and computer. It will also prove to be of great use to the system administrators who can troubleshoot and manage remote desktops or servers, check logs or install/uninstall and test applications, wherever they are.

All the standard touch, tap and drag gestures used in the iPhone and iTouch environment cant be triggered to control the computer through the new VNC Viewer. The users can, for example, pinch to zoom into a specific area or out to see the whole picture. The application features mouse button mode, comprising of virtual left, middle, and right mouse buttons, and an imaginary scroll wheel, which offer precise control. Text can be entered using the iPhone or iPod touch on-screen keyboard and displayed using preview facilities. Non-character keys such as the cursor keys and Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Delete can also be entered into the application through special buttons provided for the purpose.

The users have to install and run VNC-compatible technology on the computer to be controlled in order to connect to the same through the VNC Viewer. VNC Enterprise Edition is such an application that offers robust, high-performance connections and unmatched flexibility along with strong security. The application also provides the users with some additional features such as secure communication encrypted by industry-standard 128 bit AES technology, platform-native authentication, international keyboard support and enhanced performance.

According to Andy Harter, CEO, RealVNC, VNC Viewer provides a fast, simple and cost effective way to deliver VNC remote control capabilities to the growing number of iPhone and iPod touch users. Harter continued that as the only truly cross-platform solution, the application supports a wide range of personal and professional applications from remote computer support for friends and family to accessing business applications and delivering 24x7 IT support services.

Recently, RealVNC had reportedly launched VNC Viewer Plus, a new application that helps users to connect directly to KVM remote control functionality embedded in the all new 2010 Intel (News - Alert) Core vPro processor family.
