TMCnet Business Process Outsourcing Week in Review

By Rachel Ramsey, TMCnet Web Editor

Business process outsourcing refers to the rearrangement of entire business functions to some other service providers, mainly in low-cost locations. With the highly sophisticated business and technology landscape available today, there are many business process outsourcers who can step in to provide a wide range of customer management solutions from call center services to supply chain management for both the B2B and B2C sector. Here are the top stories this week in the industry.

Vodafone (News - Alert) Netherlands, one of the largest mobile operators in Holland, and Amdocs, a provider of unified communications and network services, are the joint winners of the “Best Telephony Outsourcing” category in the global 2012 Outsourcing Excellence Awards. The two have been working together for the past six years, with Amdocs (News - Alert) managing Vodafone’s daily operations, including provisioning, billing, customer care and wholesale partner systems across legacy and Amdocs software.

The awards are given based on service relationships that significantly benefit both the buyer and the service provider by way of efficient practices and compelling value.

Also in lieu of partnerships this week, Jacada (News - Alert) and AGC Networks partnered up to deliver customized customer service solutions to companies in India. The project is target primarily at the business process outsourcing sector and allows contact center agents to effortlessly and seamlessly interact with their customer base.

Jacada and AGC Networks also look to reduce operational costs and improve employee retention. Their collaboration particularly works across multiple channels. The main idea is to improve the overall customer experience; the solution is naturally multifaceted by delivering seamless integration across several channels.

Kofax, a provider of capture-enabled business process management solutions, has signed a contract with a U.S. government agency with a value in the mid-seven figure dollar amount. The Kofax solution allows customers to process and archive the resulting images and data for easy access by employees and other constituents.

Also this week, a report by TechNavio predicts the adoption of virtualized environments among business process outsourcing firms to increase at a combined annual growth rate of 5.1 percent from 2011 to 2015. One of the key factors to drive growth is the considerable reduction in operational costs it offers. TechNavio IT Services analyst said currently, the increase in the usage of desktop virtualization and server virtualization has been among the priorities of companies in the global business process outsourcing market.
