TMCnet's Business Process Outsourcing Week in Review

By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Contributor

It’s time for another news roundup here in technology as we “batten down the hatches” in the northeast for some fun weather. Let’s look at what happened in business process outsourcing.

In political news, plenty of rumors have been going around that Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign has been outsourced to the Philippines, meaning that all of those political calls are not coming from your fellow Americans. This is what the accusations are saying as of late.

In spite of rumor denial, it seems as though the Communications Workers of America says they have proof “that two other revelations this year about Romney and Republicans’ off-shoring call center work overseas are true and disturbing,” said the union.

Of course, this news is rife with these sorts of headlines as it comes closer to Election Day. Read the full report to learn more about the investigation and the allegations.

In other news, CAYLX Software just appointed a new partner to help its growth in the Australian market.

CAYLX offers Business Process Management (BPM) solutions and has appointed Insitec to promote and support Hyland Software’s market leading OnBase Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software for which CAYLX Software holds Australian master distribution.

“CAYLX Software is committed to building a strong reseller channel and an end user customer base that can harness the entire rich functionality of the Hyland Software product for their own business benefit,” said Jim Bullough, managing director, CAYLX Software.

Last but not least, a special report highlights Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) and the hype surrounding it that it is confusing to potential buyers.

When it comes to the cloud, BPaaS “has caused distinctions among the various propositions to become increasingly blurred and thus further confused buying organizations,” according to Ovum (News - Alert).

Compared to BPO, BPaaS is not something that is very current with buyers, and according to Ovum principal analyst Thomas Reuner, “The evolution of BPO and the impact of cloud components on BPO delivery need to be discussed around cloud computing needs that are balanced with the complexities that buying organizations currently face.”
