Business Process Outsourcing Week in Review

Business process outsourcing reassures companies that their customer service is in the hands of an expert. And this week in the business process outsourcing space, we have seen just how much these solutions can improve employment rates and enhance overall user capabilities through new partnerships.


This week, global information technology and business process outsourcing specialist Infosys (News - Alert) revealed that it will be adding 200 new jobs this year at its Cumberland location in Cobb County, Atlanta. Infosys will be setting up onshore operations in this center as well as expanding into the metro Atlanta area over the next couple of years.

Gautam Thakkar, vice president and unit head - Enterprise Services, Infosys BPO said, "It is critical for Infosys to create global hubs of talent, and the Southeast is a key U.S. region with a number of our important clients. We also are impressed with the highly skilled talent pool available in Atlanta, and look forward to our expansion to continue to improve services to our customers."

In addition, according to the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (News - Alert) (PwC) salary and benefits survey for 2013, the world has also seen an increase in salaries amount its employees. The Central Bank claimed that Sri Lanka's export software development and outsourcing segments brought in an estimated $600 million in revenue during 2012. Its estimated workforce in 2010, commissioned by Sri Lanka's Export Development Board ,was about 16,500 and the IT industry employed more than 60,000 people (including the domestic market) in 2012. By the year 2016, the company hopes to increase this to about $1 billion and have about 80,000 employees.

Lastly, Data Control Group (DCG), a business process outsourcing firm specializing in back office solutions, has been acquired by Qualfon, a business process outsourcing (BPO) and call center service provider. The integrated firm will now be able to offer its customers a broader set off high-quality complementary services and expand its delivery locations as well, Qualfon has already proven it has a substantial track record as its customer care continues to grow and it currently has over 10,000 call center agents who service its international base of clients. Peter Lutz, senior vice president of Data Control Group commented that Qualfon is the right cultural and business fit for DCG for its predicted expansion and desire to stay true to its people-first approach.
