Business Process Outsourcing Week in Review

By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Contributor

Time to end this heat wave with a recap of technology headlines. Let’s see what has happened in business process outsourcing this week.

Red Lion Controls has come up with the latest in Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) – the Graphite series of advanced operator interface panels. These plug-in models are good for industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and water/wastewater.

"We have used just about everyone's HMIs, and Graphite is by far the best in terms of appearance and functionality," said Pierre de Giorgio, president at BlueBay Automation. "It is the most feature-rich HMI that we have ever used, the graphics and resolution are amazing, and with Red Lion's Crimson 3.0 software, the move to Graphite is seamless."

Vodafone (News - Alert) Iceland tapped Axiros to monitor and manage its customer premise equipment (CPE), headlines tell us this week. Vodafone will deploy Axiros’ AXESS.ACS (News - Alert), which manages home devices and triple play services; AXTRACT, for continuous monitoring of QoE (quality of experience); and AXPLORE for alarm management.

"Axiros provides significant ROI. Even more than that, their open architecture means we can move forward with the equipment we already have in place. This will save us significant time and money,” said Fannar Orn Porbjornsson, Vodafone Iceland's (News - Alert) head of business support systems.

In other news this week, Central Florida Telecom (CFT) selected PortaOne’s (News - Alert)  PortaSwitch platform to provide enhanced customer service.

According to the report, CFT had been facing problems due to a failing softswitch solution, and thus turned to PortaOne to expand their business to nationwide and international clientele.

“PortaSwitch has helped us help our customers achieve their goals and provided them with a solid, reliable solution,” said Keith Bruno, co-founder of CFT. “This has minimized issues with the phone system and has allowed us to pursue other business instead of fighting fires."
