Compuware has long been recognized for its presence in a wide variety of technological verticals. The firm just announced that it has been ranked as the third largest Application Management Software Vendors in the world. This ranking, based on APM (News - Alert) vendor revenue numbers from 2012, was presented in a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC). The IDC says that Compuware also had the highest growth rate in the ever-increasing APM market among the top three vendors.

According to the IDC, Compuware’s (News - Alert) estimated revenue sits at $272 million in the APM market. That revenue number makes up about 12.3 percent of the world’s market. IDC says that the firm saw a revenue growth rate of about 19 percent from 2011 to 2012. The analysis firm sees the Application Performance Management market hitting new heights in the next few years. IDC (News - Alert) believes that the total market will hit $2.5 billion by the end of this year and will rise to about $4 billion by the end of 2017.

"This ranking reaffirms our strength and leadership in the APM market," John Van Siclen, general manager of Compuware's APM business unit, said in a recent release announcing the company’s strong standing. "Our innovative, new generation approach to APM is redefining the APM landscape and shifting the expectations of the market. Not only are we enjoying the business lift from this new approach to APM, but our customers are enjoying a new generation of value from their APM investments as well."

Compuware believes that the secret to its success lies in the fact that its APM solutions are lighter and more proactive compared to more traditional APM solution models. Compuware APM optimizes and monitors tens of thousands of applications that are spread out among 4,000 different customers. These customers are small and medium sized businesses around the globe.
