The Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Brown Mills, NJ, uses state of the art technology for its medical procedures. It makes sense, then, that it would also leverage advanced technology for its HR, payroll and talent management.

In an effort to unify and simplify its HR paper trail, the Deborah Heart and Lung Center has recently made the jump to UltiPro, a cloud-based, software-as-a-service people management solution that houses more than 8 million people records in the cloud for more than 2,300 customers, including Major League Baseball and Adobe Systems (News - Alert).

The medical center focuses exclusively on cardiac, vascular and lung disease using state-of-the-art technology and care. Like almost all healthcare organizations, it has complex HCM requirements, so it looked to the cloud for a unified HR solution that could seamlessly handle its scope.

UltiPro fit the bill.

“We have been using many disparate ‘best-of-breed’ systems—payroll, HR, recruitment, performance management, and timekeeping—that all had to be kept in sync,” said James F. Carlino, SPHR, CCP, vice president of human resources, CHRO, at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center, in a statement by UltiPro developer Ultimate Software.

“We were clearly impressed with the UltiPro solution—a single HCM platform with an intuitive user interface, advanced functionality, and cloud technology that will empower our managers and staff with greater access and control over important information that is relevant to them,” he said.

Some of the benefits of UltiPro include central business rules across multiple areas of HCM, centralized workflow among HR, payroll, benefits, and talent management, and cohesive reporting for strategic business intelligence.

It also offers seamless sign-on with ‘sticky’ user preferences, flexible enterprise integration tools and the ability to handle complex payroll processing--a particularly valuable asset for healthcare organizations.

“With UltiPro, we can eliminate a great deal of manual intervention that had to occur when moving data among disparate systems. Our teams can save time on administrative tasks and deliver a better user experience for our managers and employees,” said Carlino. “Plus, we will be able to focus our limited resources on more strategic initiatives, critically assess the range of our human capital processes, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our efforts so that our employees and our overall organization will benefit.”

UltiPro is pleased that it can help support The Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

“Healthcare organizations provide tremendous support to our communities, and we are very pleased that our technology can add important business value to organizations in this vital industry,” said Greg Swick in the statement, chief sales officer at Ultimate Software.

“Healthcare organizations have very complex HR and payroll requirements, and one of UltiPro’s many business benefits is allowing companies to centralize and integrate all of their employee master data rather than using multiple databases,” he noted.
