Crucial Cloud Hosting has launched a new high-performance cloud service called Blaze, which offers guaranteed performance for storage-intensive applications. The new cloud program has incorporated OnApp’s Cloud platform and control panel of SolidFire’s all-SSD storage system.
With OnApp and SolidFire, Crucial has created a high-performance cloud that offers guaranteed Input/Output per Second (IOPS) for each application.
With the new Blaze cloud, customers can specify IOPS for their hosted applications, and control their cloud service with OnApp’s intuitive cloud control panel.
Aaron Weller, managing director of Crucial said, “The combination of SolidFire’s all-SSD storage systems and the OnApp Cloud management platform allows us to provision storage with guaranteed performance levels, all backed by our proven commitment to the highest levels of security, service and technical expertise. Now, customers have complete control over their cloud environment and can use the OnApp control panel to change the configuration of their server in real time.”
Ditlev Bredahl, CEO at OnApp, said, “Today’s applications need to be fast and available, no matter what the demand – and that is exactly what OnApp and SolidFire have helped Crucial to deliver. By evolving their infrastructure with OnApp Cloud, and SolidFire's all-SSD storage, Crucial can meet the growing need for cloud services that can handle the most demanding applications.”
With the new cloud service, Crucial caters to companies using dedicated servers to ensure disk performance for their hosted applications, enabling them to take advantage of the flexibility and scalability of cloud hosting while guaranteeing storage performance.
In addition, the company is also targeting companies such as online retailers and digital agencies that can reduce cost by scaling their cloud service on demand to respond to promotions, or as their business needs evolve.
Recently, OnApp was in the news for closing a Series B round of funding, bringing total funding to more than $20 million. The company currently powers public cloud services for more than 500 service providers across 39 countries, making it the most widely deployed cloud management platform globally. The company is now poised to further accelerate the rapid growth of this ecosystem.
Existing investor, LDC, the leading U.K. private equity house focused on growth businesses, led the round. The funding will be used to help OnApp roll out a new line of products and services in 2013, as well as expand into new global markets.
