Netherlands-based scholarly publishing house, Brill, has selected Mitel’s (News - Alert) Cloud Solution to replace its standard communications platform, the company announced Monday.
Brill is an international enterprise with a branch office in Boston, MA as well, and publishes on texts in the humanities, social sciences, international law and selected sciences.
Previous to selecting Mitel, Brill used a non-Cloud system, which significantly limited the abilities of the company to unify their everyday communications, spanning its 150 employees in both locations.
Brill’s IT coordinator, Marcel Prins, commented on the new move: “With locations in several countries and people working from different places, we were looking for a communication platform that supports all our immediate needs, and gives us the flexibility to grow and change in the future.”
Prins also described the old system as “really dated and difficult to manage.”
Mitel’s system is called the Virtual Mitel Communications Director (vMCD), and is designed, implemented and managed by the company’s partner Detron.
The platform is aimed to give Brill more options for communication than its legacy platform was able to, which is vital for any internationally-operative company, let alone those in the fast-paced publishing industry – especially since the company publishes texts on scientific subjects, a field that is constantly changing, and spans across the whole globe.
“The Mitel solution fits in our virtual strategy and will enable us to collaborate more efficiently regardless of location,” added Prins.
In addition to Brill’s two primary locations in the Netherlands and the United States, the company employs teleworkers in Germany and Switzerland, so a great bulk of the company’s business is conducted and therefore relies entirely on telecommunication services.
When the solution is fully implemented and ready for use, all of Brill’s employees will connect on a single system, allowing more seamless management and efficient contact.
