New Survey Shows Increased Interest in the Cloud
August 08, 2013
A new survey shows just how popular the cloud is with the business world as five out of six organizations that were surveyed said that they are currently using or plan to use cloud storage. TwinStrata (News - Alert), Inc. has been recognized as an innovator in cloud storage. The company just released a survey, which it has dubbed the 2013 Cloud Storage Adoption Survey. This particular survey was conducted during the first half of 2013 and is an updated version of a similar study that was published in June of 2012.
It should be mentioned that while there are quite a few different studies showing a huge interest in the cloud, this particular study might be just a little bit slanted. TwinStrata’s survey participants had already been identified as being “cloud friendly” and were all attendees at a recent cloud conference. While that might mean that the number of people who are interested in the cloud is sort of obvious, the number of attendees and those who are interested in the cloud has grown over the years.
The survey did make some interesting findings, such as the fact that storage capacity requirements in the cloud are quickly surpassing the ability of IT professionals to support them.
Among those surveyed, 37 percent said that they have been using the cloud for at least three years. That is an increase of more than one third over 2012. The survey also found that the adoption rate of cloud services has been increasing year over year at a nice pace. While cloud storage has just a 46 percent adoption rate today, 84 percent of those who have not yet turned to cloud storage plan to at some point.
