Xirrus Releases Next Generation of XMS-Cloud
October 17, 2013
Xirrus, a provider of high-performance wireless networks, introduced the next generation of its cloud-based Xirrus Management System (XMS), a cloud service that brings a fundamental level of simplicity to managing wireless networks of any size. Now completely redesigned, XMS falls under the suite of Xirrus Cloud Services created for the complete lifecycle management of wireless networks, which also includes Wi-Fi Designer Cloud, which handles design, and Xirrus Mobilize, which handles deployment.
This announcement comes shortly after Xirrus’ unveiling of the XR-630 802.11ac access point, the first dual-802.11ac radio access point to hit the market.
The Xirrus Cloud Services Suite allows organizations to roll out wireless networks quickly in order to support the growing number of mobile devices present in the enterprise. In particular, the suite reduces the effort necessary for geographically dispersed installations, such as with distributed enterprises and large campuses.
"Our new XMS-Cloud service removes the complexity and learning curve associated with deploying and operating wireless networks, especially for customers who do not have large IT staffs or who cannot afford the time to train them," said Bruce Miller (News - Alert), vice president of product marketing at Xirrus, in a statement. "The ability to rapidly and easily provision a new wireless network helps eliminate barriers to wireless adoption and expedite broad scale roll outs. Organizations can realize the benefits of wireless connectivity faster and without compromising user productivity."
The next-generation XMS-Cloud offers full monitoring and management of a Xirrus wireless and wired network. Massively scalable and multitenant, this offering features a highly customizable dashboard that offers instant real-time views of network and device activity. In addition, a profile-based configuration makes it easy to create and enforce policies across even the most complex of networks, while detailed reporting gives easy access to the type of information needed for planning and compliance monitoring.
