Barracuda Networks (News - Alert), a provider of cloud-based security and storage solutions, has achieved VMware Ready - vCloud Air status for several of its products: Barracuda NG Firewall, Barracuda Message Archiver, Barracuda Spam Firewall and Barracuda Web Application Firewall. This certification indicates that Barracuda has joined the vCloud Air Independent Software Vendor (ISV) program, which lets companies make their products available on the vCloud Air public cloud platform, and that its products have undergone VMware’s technical validation. vCloud Air provides an easy way for companies to extend workloads into the cloud, greatly improving operational efficiency while enhancing organization and storage capabilities as well as significantly reducing cost.
Barracuda’s products aim to solve the inherent security risks brought on by moving to a cloud environment, since the technology is still relatively new while providing more inroads for potential attackers. The company’s NG Firewall, Spam Firewall and Web Application Firewall provide a way for customers to carry out their duties in the cloud without having to worry about those risks. Furthermore, the company’s Message Archiver solution efficiently archives emails in the cloud and eDiscovery in hybrid cloud environments. Integrating its products into the vCloud Air platform gives Barracuda ideal technological underpinnings and a wide customer base to help spread the knowledge of the solutions’ benefits for companies in any industry.
“Securing business data moving through the data center both on-premises and in the cloud can be complex and reveal no shortage of security challenges,” said Nicole Napiltonia, Vice President of Alliances at Barracuda. “We're extremely pleased to see Barracuda's security and storage solutions have achieved VMware Ready status for businesses using vCloud Air to benefit our mutual customers and further Barracuda's goal of providing total threat protection to our customers.”
Barracuda’s aforementioned products on vCloud Air are currently available via the Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model. They can be found online within the VMware Solution Exchange.
