Birch Communications Gives TotalCloud PBX Fresh Seeding with New Features

Users of the TotalCloud private branch exchange (PBX (News - Alert)) system are probably already familiar with its capabilities in providing communications to businesses of most any size, from the small and medium-sized business (SMB) to the enterprise-level user. But now, there's a new reason to turn to TotalCloud as Birch Communications, the company behind it, announced new features that should make TotalCloud even more valuable.

With the new updates, users will be able to use session initiation protocol (SIP)-compliant handset devices already in place rather than having to pick up new or different devices. With this option in place, users now have the ability to not only make changes, but retain the hardware that's currently operating at the business, making it simpler to bring in TotalCloud.

As described by Birch's vice president of business development David Gibson, most businesses do have at least some interest in bringing in the cost-savings capability that voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and hosted PBX can offer, but it's not always easy to do that, and many providers won't offer the kind of reliability that Birch can. Birch offers that quality thanks to an extensive testing and compliance process, backed up with customer service operations that have previously won awards in the field. This means that it's a safer bet than the ordinary to bring in Birch operations and take advantage of the kind of capabilities that the system can offer.

The rest of TotalCloud's features will likely be familiar; the system has several call capabilities ranging from call forwarding to extension-to-extension dialing, as well as several call routing features from auto attendants to hunt groups. Scheduled call forwarding systems offer value for mobile employees—the mobile workforce is an ever-growing part of the overall business environment—and there are even online feature management tools to ensure that there aren't more features on hand than are needed, making the process as simple to work with as can be. The Birch Communicator App, also included with the system, allows TotalCloud PBX to be used from just about anywhere as well.

That's a lot of power contained in one system, and likely why a lot of companies were interested in getting in on the action. Now, it's likely to prove even easier to put the system to work, and in more environments thanks to these new changes. It's a great selling point to be able to say that the system works with what's already in place, particularly if Birch wants to wedge some users out of competitors' systems. There's little risk in putting Birch's tools to work, essentially, because there's no need to commit to new hardware to get it put in play. So those companies who may have been considering changes but weren't sure if the risk was worth the reward now have a whole new way to try out TotalCloud PBX with less risk.

Only time will tell if TotalCloud's new feature draws in new business, but it's a safe bet that Birch Communications has a whole new tactic to bring out that might well change a few minds. It may not be enough, of course, but it may just be that tipping point to get some fence-sitters into TotalCloud's camp.
