Noice-cancelling unified communications (UC) headset manufacturer Sennheiser recently reported expansion of its presence in Canada with the signing of a distribution agreement with Tech Data (News - Alert), one of world's largest wholesale distributors of technology products, services and solution. The move Sennheiser’s contact center and office (CC&O) division is the second in recent weeks by Sennheiser to expand its Canadian presence following on an agreement with Run Distribution aimed specifically at the Quebec market.

Tech Data, whose logistics capabilities and value added services enable 115,000 resellers to efficiently and cost effectively provide services in more than 100 countries, will give Sennheiser the market reach in Canada it seeks for its wireless, digitally-enhanced cordless, and wired headsets that are compatible with Microsoft (News - Alert) Skype for Business UC environments.

Michael Wyman, the national sales manager of telecommunications for Sennheiser Canada, stressed the significance of the announcement of the distribution agreement commenting: “We are duly excited to be working with Tech Data throughout the Canadian territories. They offer an extensive value proposition as a distribution partner.” Wyman added. “This relationship represents a major step in Sennheiser CC&O’s growth strategy. We want to increase our presence among telecommunications resellers, so more of them begin to understand the role that enhanced audio quality plays in the creation of a truly effective customer engagement.”

Wyman indicated that this is Tech Data's first foray into the field of headsets. It has long offered its customers other telecommunications products and can now begin to claim the title of “one-stop shop.”

It was also noted that while Sennheiser's products come in various styles and models, the company’s leading edge noise cancellation feature—on its D 10 Series, the SD wireless, Century, Circle, Culture, MB, and PRESENCE models—have become popular for use in busy contact centers which should be attractive to Tech Data’s customers.  Plus, there will be interest in speakerphone models, the SP 10 and SP 20, for environments like closed offices and conference rooms where there is little need for such noise suppression.

Earlier this year, Sennheiser also reached the status of Preferred Provider from business communication's product provider NACR. At that time, TMC (News - Alert) noted that Sennheiser is well-known for its microphones and headphones that support musicians and audiophiles. It seems, however, that the company has reached into the business market with the same sort of class it has brought to decades of musicians. The benefits NACR noted should also transfer to those of Tech Data's and Run Distribution's clients for the development of their own businesses whether or not they are musically inclined.
