Thanks to seemingly endless advertising, Vonage (News - Alert) is known to many for its low cost consumer communications services. The company however, has a legion of customers in the business space that have aligned themselves with the company’s cloud communications services. To amplify this Vonage recently announced plans to optimize reliability and Quality of Service (QOS) for business customers.

The enhancements are built and delivered by the technology of the VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). Vonage is rolling out the product, under the name Vonage SmartWAN, in early 2016.

SmartWAN will work over private and public networks. It is designed for high traffic businesses with multiple locations seeking improve and simplify redundancy across their locations, with a high Quality of Service *QoE). This is accomplished through features built into SmartWAN, enabling:

  • Bandwidth (News - Alert) on-demand
  • Simplified deployment of services
  • Direct access to cloud-based applications
  • Optimized access to cloud-based applications.

Plus, SmartWAN will feature a full portal to make things easy for customers, including deployment, configuration, trouble tickets, billing, training and call analytics.

“As businesses increase the usage of video, online collaboration tools and other cloud applications, maintaining the quality of shared bandwidth becomes vital,” said Sanjay Srinivasan, Vice President and Chief Technology Architect Business Engineering for Vonage. “Vonage SmartWAN complements the features and functionality of a company’s cloud-based unified communications solution with the added reliability they need to maintain Quality of Service and keep their businesses running smoothly.”

In making the announcement that it would be using VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN, Vonage cited VeloCloud’s combination of Dynamic Multipath Optimization and on-demand remediation capabilities across multiple network connections or over a single connection. The solution also enables bandwidth on-demand, provides direct & optimal access to cloud-based applications, and simplifies deployment of services.

Because of its simplification, customers will benefit from being able to eliminate multiple firewall systems and content filters.  In addition, the solution provides customers more visibility into their network through Vonage’s proprietary back office system. Vonage says that along with its self-service portal customers can take advantage of the company’s BSS/OSS system which supplements SmartWAN’s quick deployment and ease-of-use by providing customers with an open door to installation, service configuration, trouble tickets, training, billing and call analytics.

“Vonage is renowned for its commitment to providing reliable and high performance UCaaS voice and data services solutions in the cloud over both private networks and broadband connections,” said Sanjay Uppal, CEO and Co-Founder of VeloCloud. “Vonage’s choice of VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN technology for their next generation Managed UC and SD-WAN solutions is a great testament to the high quality, cost effective experience it delivers.”
