Aegis Mobility Acquires ZoomSafer; Industry Leaders Combine Forces to Provide Distracted Driving Solutions
VANCOUVER, British Columbia --(Business Wire)--
Aegis Mobility announced today the acquisition of ZoomSafer, Inc. for an
undisclosed sum. The acquisition combines the two leading
providers of distracted driving solutions and creates the world's
most comprehensive service capability promoting safe and legal use of
mobile devices while driving.
Adding to Aegis' industry-leading Drive Assist software-only solution,
the patented FleetSafer Mobile and FleetSafer Vision products, acquired
from ZoomSafer, add OBD-Bluetooth, telematics integration and
sophisticated analytics capabilities that create a powerful and flexible
platform that is uniquely capable of meeting the diverse needs of
commercial fleet operators and risk managers who seek enterprise-class
solutions to prevent distracted driving.
"Accidents due to employee use of mobile devices while driving is a huge
and growing problem costing employers an estimated $50 billion per
year," said Paul Zimmerman, CEO of Aegis Mobility. "oomSafer's products
are uniquely complementary to ours and, combined, we're the only company
in the world capable of supporting a wide range of customer requirements
covering the broadest range of vehicle-types and mobile device types."
"When solving the distracted driving problem for enterprise fleets it's
critical to give them flexibility so they can choose the solution that
best fits with their unique requirements" said Matt Howard, ZoomSafer
Co-Founder, "Whether integrating into existing telematics systems,
utilizing in-vehicle OBD technologies, or implementing software-only
GPS-based solutions, the combination of Aegis and ZoomSafer gives
customers maximum choice."
The acquisition was greeted with enthusiasm by ZoomSafer's customers and
channel partners. "Over the past 20 years PHH has helped to pioneer the
utilization of advanced safety and risk management solutions for
commercial fleet operators across North America" said Steve DiBiagio,
SVP of Strategic Alliances at PHH Arval. "In the same way that Motor
Vehicle Records and crash management services have become standard fleet
management practices, we're confident companies will increasingly adopt
technologies to prevent employee distracted driving - and we're excited
to continue our relationship with ZoomSafer, and now Aegis to deliver
the world's best solutions to the market."
Aegis is a leading provider of software for mobile phones to prevent
distracted driving. DriveSafer enables employers to actively and
passively enforce cell phone usage policies to reduce crashes, risk and
liability. While the DriveSafer architecture has been designed
specifically for enterprise-class solutions, the technology is equally
suitable for consumer applications and has been designed to be
integrated into wireless carrier networks. With 5 patents issued and 11
pending, the Aegis patent portfolio is the broadest and deepest in the
distracted driving industry. For more information, please visit www.aegismobility.com.
