BRIEF: UP may appeal against HC order

Nov 10, 2012 (Hindustan Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Uttar Pradesh government may move the Supreme Court against the high court order asking for the immediate removal of Noida authority chief executive officer Sanjeev Saran and chairman Rakesh Bahadur. "The government has decided to support both the senior IAS officers due to their loyalty to Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. The government will not remove the duo and will move the Supreme Court as soon as it receives a copy of the high court order," said a senior UP government official.

On Thursday, the court ordered the immediate removal of two IAS officers as an inquiry is pending against them. The duo was allegedly involved in financial irregularities pertaining to 14 hotel plots allotted between 2005 and 2007 during the SP government.

"Before reading the court order in totality, the government cannot take a decision on it," said Anil Kumar Gupta, commissioner, Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development.
