Internet filter backflip is opportunity lost
Nov 19, 2012 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
The Australian Government has modified its proposed mandatory internet filter for child pornography. A new version has been tested by the larger ISPs for two years. It uses a blacklist of web sites, rather than individual web pages, provided by Interpol. The Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) has its own blacklist and passes child abuse material to international non-profit organisation INHOPE. ACMA responded to about 6,000 complaints about online content in 2011.
