The Colorado Health Foundation Supports Medicaid Expansion Decision by Governor Hickenlooper
DENVER --(Business Wire)--
The
Colorado Health Foundation (the Foundation) today supported Governor
John Hicklenlooper's decision to expand Medicaid coverage in
Colorado. By strengthening Medicaid, tens of thousands of vulnerable
Coloradans wil have access to quality health coverage, in the process
benefitting Coloradans through increased Medicaid program efficiencies
and an anticipated reduction in hospital cost shifting.
The Foundation's president and CEO Anne Warhover said, "We at the
Colorado Health Foundation applaud the governor's announcement today.
Expanding Medicaid to provide quality health coverage for additional
numbers of Colorado's most vulnerable citizens is an important step
toward the goal of making Colorado the healthiest state in the nation.
At the same time, providing health coverage for more Coloradans is a
solid down payment on Colorado's economic future. As the data make
clear, providing quality health coverage is an important building block
for a healthy, productive and economically strong Colorado."
