Suspects sought in weekend reports

Jan 21, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Odessa Police Department responded to several scenes Saturday night and Sunday morning in connection with robberies and assaults.

Two aggravated robberies that occurred within two hours of each other might be connected to each other, OPD spokeswoman Cpl. Sherrie Carruth said, but the differing description of suspects makes it difficult to determine.

According to an OPD news release, the first robbery happened at 11:13 p.m. Saturday at The Game Room, 4241 N. Dixie Blvd., in which an employee said two Hispanic men entered the business, showed a handgun and demanded money.

The men took money and left, according to the release, and no one was injured.

The first man was described as a Hispanic man at 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds and was wearing a black sweater, blue jeans, a blue bandana and dark sunglasses.

The second man was described as a Hispanic man at 25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with the same clothing.

The next robbery occurred early in the morning, reported at 12:34 a.m. Sunday at Fun Game, 2000 N. West County Road.

According to the news release, an employee reported two Hispanic men wearing masks pointing guns at him and demanding money.

These two suspects were described in the news release slightly different.

The first suspect was a Hispanic man at 30 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with brown eyes. He was wearing a black sweater, black pants and a light gray turtleneck.

The second suspect was identified as a Hispanic man at 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, and wearing the same clothes.

The department has requested anyone with information about the incidents or suspects call Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.

OPD also responded this weekend to a report of a gunshot victim at Medical Center Hospital, according to the release, where they found 33-year-old Rickei McDavid at 7:52 p.m. Saturday.

According to the news release, McDavid said he was at a barbecue in the 900 block of Snyder when he heard a vehicle drive up and an unknown number of shots fired.

McDavid told officers he fell to the ground and realized he was shot in the left thigh, according to the news release. He was taken to the hospital by a friend.

Officers then went to check the area where the barbecue was but found no evidence of a shooting and did not receive a shots fired call from that location, according to the release.
