BRIEF: Marin told not to burn Wednesday by air district
Jan 22, 2013 (The Marin Independent Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued the season's eighth winter Spare the Air alert for Wednesday.
The alert triggers a ban on burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel.
The large high pressure system that dominated the weather last week is finally weakening and moving slowly east. However, particulate levels today have increased and are threatening to reach unhealthy levels tomorrow, according to air officials.
The daily burn status can be found on the district websites at www.baaqmd.gov or www.sparetheair.org, via the toll-free hotline 1-877-4-NO-BURN, by signing up for AirAlerts at www.sparetheair.org or phone alerts at 1-800-430-1515, or via the Spare the Air iPhone and Android apps.
