1st LD Writethru: Japan's jobless rate up 0.1 pct in Dec.
TOKYO, Feb 01, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
The unemployment rate in Japan
increased 0.1 percent from the previous month to 4.2 percent in
December 2012, according to the data released by the government.
The rise was due to the global economic slowdown which made the
manufacturers cut their employees.
The number of employees in the manufacturing industry fell 350,
000 to 9.98 million amid weak export and industrial output,
marking the lowest number since 1961, said the Ministry of
Internal Affairs and Communications.
Separate data showed the nation's job availability improved for
the first time in five months.
