DR Systems' Customer Lake Medical Imaging Receives Incentive for Stage 1 Meaningful Use Attestation
SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)--
DR
Systems, one of the most respected names in enterprise medical
imaging information systems (RIS, CVIS, PACS) and the 2012
#1 ranked PACS vendor by KLAS®,
announced today that its customer Lake
Medical Imaging & Vascular Imaging in Central Florida has
received federal incentive funds of over $350,000 for completing the
attestation process for Stage
1 Meaningful Use requirements. Lake Medical Imaging implemented DR
Systems' cloud-based ambulatory eHR in July 2012 and successfully
attested in November 2012.
DR
Systems' cloud-based eHR for Meaningful Use provides a simple
mechanism for eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical
access hospitals to improve patient care and qualify for federal bonus
payments by complying with the objectives established by the Centers
for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The CMS objectives
require demonstration of the "meaningful use" of certified EHR
technology to improve patient care in a manner that is measurable in
both quantity and quality. DR Systems' eHR is available to any
radiologist, imaging center, or hospital whether they employ the DR
Systems RIS/PACS or any other information systems.
Rick Mills, PACS/IT Administrator for Lake Medical Imagig, commented,
"We were chosen as a beta site for DR Systems' eHR, and this allowed us
to give feedback to enhance the product and ensure it met our needs. We
did change our workflow slightly to acquire the new data for meaningful
use; however, we did not have to add any new employees. This was one of
the cost-saving benefits of implementing DR Systems' eHR."
Rick Mills added, "It takes teamwork from the front desk to the
technologist and we have had a great response from our staff to meet our
meaningful use goals. DR Systems was a great part of our team. They have
been very helpful by answering questions and keeping things running.
Receiving our check is a great reward for all the hard work."
At Lake Medical Imaging, 21 radiologists qualified for the full $18,000
incentive payment. Most radiologists, anesthesiologists, and other
specialists are eligible for CMS incentive payments. Early qualification
is encouraged, because the total incentive payment is reduced each year.
Failure to comply with meaningful use requirements will eventually
result in financial penalties.
The EHR from DR Systems is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with
criteria adopted by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.
This certification is the official designation necessary for the EHR to
enable providers to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act.
