Serco, a provider of call center outsourcing solutions, has acquired Vertex (News - Alert) Public Sector Limited, which provides dedicated BPO services to both local and central government organizations.
Vertex Public Sector Limited is the U.K. public sector operations of Vertex Data Science Limited. It employs 3,000 members of staff based in eight locations across the U.K. including Bolton, Cardiff, Liverpool, Grays in Essex and Dingwall in Scotland.
Through this acquisition, Serco hopes to further expand into new areas of call center outsourcing for middle and back office support. It will also help the company further strengthen its newly created global services portfolio and extend the services it provides to government.
This is the latest in a series of recent acquisition Serco has made recently which include Intelenet Global Services, a leader in international BPO, The Listening Company, a specialist U.K. contact center business, and Excelior which covers the Australian market.
“As well as providing us with additional client services, this acquisition fits into our public sector strategy by securing our position as the leading local government provider of middle and back office services,” said David Poole, CEO for Serco’s European BPO business, in a statement.
“It better positions us to bring innovation and transformation across the sector and is another significant step for our BPO capabilities within the public sector as we work with local authorities and government departments to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and maximize outcomes for citizens,” Poole added.
The acquisition further enhances the company’s U.K. on-shore capability, which is part of Serco’s wider BPO business with operations based in 10 countries providing a full range of front, middle and back office solutions.
There are many companies within the call center outsourcing industry, but a business that stands apart from competition is Sitel. The call center outsourcing provider is continuing to see success and just this month opened a new call center in Eton, Manila in the Philippines.
The new location is Sitel’s ninth customer care center in the Philippines, located at the crossroads of a major transportation hub in Pasig City. This prime location helps offer ease of access for Sitel employees.
