Green Hills Software Collaborates with AppliedMicro

Green Hills Software, an independent vendor of embedded software solutions, has teamed up with AppliedMicro (News - Alert) to introduce a best-of-class solution for AppliedMicro's PacketPro2 family of single and multicore secure processors for enterprise networking, control plane and industrial applications.

Green Hills is developing an optimizing tool chain and debugger for AppliedMicro PacketPro2 family that allows customers to select the product that matches their specific requirements. The PacketPro2 family will extend from single core to multicore with multilayered encryption and authentication capabilities. Developers require a correspondingly reliable and highly capable set of development tools.

"AppliedMicro PacketPro2 single and dual-core processors' advanced security and power management features address mission-critical applications across multiple market segments," said Majid Bemanian, senior director of marketing, embedded processing for the AppliedMicro Computing Business Unit.

Bemanian said that its collaboration with Green Hills Software allows it to provide its industrial and networking customers with an optimized development suite that emphasizes the strengths of its new PacketPro2 processor family and meets its customers' requirements.

The Green Hills Software tools utilizes processor-independent and processor-dependent optimizations, including advanced techniques such as an advanced dual-issue pipeline scheduler, inter-procedural optimizations, link-time automatic addressing mode optimization and code factoring.
