Plantronics Helps Sales Reps Find the Connections in CRM

There's no denying that, for sales reps, connections are vital. Connections help grease the wheels driving that which covers the gap between hesitant buyers and customers. When it comes to making those important connections, CRM--Customer Relationship Management--software can do the job. But many sales reps find themselves ill at ease with CRM, and that's a problem Plantronics (News - Alert) is looking to take care of.

Plantronics, working with ThreeWill and Datahug, have brought together a new kind of CRM system with a set of tools specifically geared for the busy sales rep who needs information about potential clients, and needs it in rapid fashion. The tools in question, Popcorn and Datahug, will not only allow for integration between a sales rep's smartphone and his or her PC, but also allow for the rapid dissemination of crucial information.

For instance, Popcorn will automatically generate a profile of relevant history and information on a client as soon as they call the sales rep's smartphone, allowing the sales rep to know, at a glance, just who they're talking to and just what those customers may be interested in. Better yet, Popcorn even comes with the Chatter feature, a social enterprise tool developed by (News - Alert), that allows users to collaborate on potential sales and the like using all the information that Popcorn provides.

Datahug also joins in the information dispensation strategy, offering up a relationship tracking system that's based on information provided to it by Plantronics' headsets. Datahug can take information like caller ID, call state, headset state, and more and combine it into a package that provides an idea of the best way to reach a contact. For instance, if the tracking shows that, more often than not, the potential customer uses their mobile phone to call the sales rep, the rep then has a better idea that contacting them through the mobile phone has a better chance of resulting in actual contact.

Both Popcorn and Datahug will be on display at Plantronics' booth at the Dreamforce show in San Francisco, slated to run September 18 - 21. It's clear that Plantronics has some impressive new software for sales reps, and indeed, extra information can go a long way toward making those all-important sales numbers. Given the extra challenge under which a sales rep must work these days--a downed economy makes everyone less likely to buy almost anything--having that extra bit of information may well mean the difference between sales made and sales lost.
