Support for Multi-Channel Retail Success comes to NetSuite as it Acquires Retail Anywhere

Retail Anywhere is a company in Paso Robles, California that has been providing point of sale (POS) software for over 28 years. Last year it re-architected its software to run on NetSuite’s (News - Alert) cloud-based ERP suite. NetSuite is a provider of cloud-based business management software. Its headquarters are in California in Silicon Valley.

On January 10, 2013, NetSuite announced that it acquired Retail Anywhere. This acquisition figures into its SuiteCommerce platform. According to NetSuite, the platform is designed to offer a great shopping experience on any device, using any language and currency, offering targeted merchandising and marketing. This will give NetSuite what it needs to generate new revenue, open up new sales channels and help to expand its business on a global level.

Retailers are looking for an answer that offers a single commerce solution that supports multiple customer touchpoints. Retail businesses need this to move forward from physical points of sale at a store to eCommerce, allowing customers to use computers, smartphones and tablets to do their shopping. NetSuite’s acquisition brings to the table thousands of customers using Retail Anywhere’s POS system, not to mention its 28 years of experience and knowledge in retail operations.

Retail Anywhere created its POS SuiteApp for NetSuite. The solution runs on traditional POS hardware as well as Apple (News - Alert) iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch mobile devices to simply and securely conduct transactions from anywhere.

Retail Anywhere CEO, Branden Jenkins, will join NetSuite as general manager of eTail/Retail Products. Jenkins said, "In a retail industry where most widely-deployed POS solutions were developed before the web browser existed, there is a tremendous market opportunity for solutions that enable retail operations for the mobile, consumer environment. We are excited to join NetSuite, given the company's cloud-based, Commerce as a Service approach to enabling multi-channel retail, the unique business value that the extended NetSuite platform brings to each retailer-customer relationship, and a proven industry track record of success with retail customers and partners."

NetSuite SuiteCommerce combines a state-of-the-art Web storefront with the core NetSuite business suite for a complete, customer-centric cloud commerce solution. Most systems only have a limited visibility of customers’ lifetime value because they only produce fragmented views of customers, inventory and financials. Organizations have a lack of visibility into their operations and customers. This makes it difficult to satisfy their customers’ need or streamline operations and keep their costs down.
