Zurmo Open Source CRM Application Featured in BitNami App Library
By Shamila Janakiraman
Zurmo Open Source (News - Alert) Customer Relationship Management application won a contest sponsored by BitNami, which strives to simplify the deployment of Web applications. The CRM application will be featured in the BitNami Application Library as an easy to install Open Source CRM BitNami stack.
Co-founder and lead developer of Zurmo, Jason Green said, “BitNami is one of the most respected providers of Open Source software packages out there. It is an honor to be included in the application library next to other projects for which we hold considerable esteem.”
According to the developers of Zurmo, the project is built on an honest open source model and is supported by a diverse community that is desirous about creating a high quality CRM system.
Being an Open Source CRM alternative, Zurmo is mobile, social, and gamified. The developers have used a test-driven methodology to build the entire application. This allows the creation and maintenance of a custom-built CRM system that will not be affected by future updates.
Also, the application has been translated into several languages including French, Spanish, German, and Italian.
Zurmo will be available as a one-click virtual appliance on TurnKey Linux and via auto installer on A2Hosting. SourceForge project also listed Zurmo as a featured application and it was downloaded over 800 times during the third week of January.
Ray Stoeckicht, Zurmo co-Founder, remarked, “Having Zurmo listed on BitNami means another option for easy deployment and even further expansion of our reach. The Zurmo train pulled out of the station at the end of last year after our 1.0 release. It has been accelerating like a silver bullet ever since. The open source community is clearly looking at the project as the next generation CRM. It’s exciting.”
The general audience release of Zurmo Version 1.0 was made recently. The new version Zurmo 1.0 is the culmination of two years of full-time software development by seasoned engineers in the Open Source CRM field. It addresses users, developers, and the enterprise.
Additional enterprise class functionality will be added to the Zurmo Open Source product with the upcoming release of Zurmo 1.5. Zurmo is an easy-to-use, easy-to-customize CRM application that can be adapted to any business use case.
