NEI Webinar Highlights NEBS Certified Solution, Secure Gateway Application Deployment

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

As the demand for network security, multi-gigabit processing, and traffic management increases today, solutions that incorporate intelligent packet processors and that can increase efficiency and performance, have become critical.

While a number of companies have created pieces and parts to address this need, ensuring their interoperability, reliability and host of other factors has forced users to look for a better option.

Partnering with a provider who can handle these issues will shorten time-to-market and ease deployment and service issues.

During a recent TMC (News - Alert) Webinar, “How to Deliver and Deploy Security Gateway Applications," sponsored by NEI, attendees heard about performance requirements for Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), encryption/decryption and traffic management.

Featuring guest presenters Jeff Hudgins (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at NEI; Franklin Flint OEM Solutions, Global Enterprise Technology at Dell; and Rubin Dhillon, Global Director of Communications Product Management for GE Intelligent Platforms (News - Alert), the Webinar also looked at the role of packet processors and their growing importance; and how such a platform can allow an application to work more efficiently.

“Service providers are getting more and more aggressive on their timelines for security-type applications,” Hudgins said during the webinar.

“In one case, we were able to get up and running, and do a demonstration for the service provider in only four days.”

Dhillon also noted during his presentation that the purpose-built NEBS certified solution from NEI (News - Alert), Dell and GE was created to mitigate design risk and improve time to revenue.

“We thought it was a great way, by singing up with Dell and NEI to pre-package these solutions, take care of these architectural challenges for you, and give you a ready-made system that you can put an application on top of,” Dhllion said.
