Fortinet (News - Alert), a provider of network security solutions and unified threat management (UTM) appliance deployment solutions has revealed that the State of Nebraska's Treasurer's Office has deployed Fortinet appliances throughout its network to help provide firewall, Web content filtering, IPS, antivirus, DLP and application control protection.
The Nebraska State Treasurer's Office chose Fortinet’s appliance deployment solution to replace its old firewall solution that lacked security features and flexibility required for the office, which handles all state money from taxes to tuition, all unclaimed financial property, the Nebraska College Savings Program, the child support payment center, a long-term care savings plan and communication of how the state spends and receives funds, a press release revealed.
Fortinet deployed multiple FortiGate appliances throughout the Treasurer's Office's network. Through this deployment, the Treasurer's Office was better able to consolidate security functionalities into a single appliance, completely eliminating the necessity of utilizing multiple appliances with multiple vendors.
Fortinet’s appliance deployment solution offered the firm a network security solution that not only protects it from network attacks, but also safeguards the personal information of citizens. The firm installed the products through Infogressive, a Fortinet platinum partner that specializes in providing clients with customized network security solutions.
"When we were introduced to Infogressive we knew that we could trust them, because they offered up a solution that was going to meet our needs and one that would fit our needs down the road," said Charles Luginbill, IT director for the Nebraska State Treasurer's Office in a statement. "The Fortinet solution has enabled us to have tighter controls on our network so that we are aware of what is happening at all times. With both Infogressive and Fortinet, I now sleep better at night."
The application control feature within the FortiGate appliance deployment solution allowed the Treasurer's Office to have tighter controls over social media and other non-approved applications. Moreover, through the use of the DLP feature, the office has been able to better monitor data that is trying to exit the network, both intentionally and unintentionally.
"The State of Nebraska's Treasurer's Office's deployment of Fortinet products is further validation of Fortinet's ability to help companies save money by consolidating network security features into a single appliance," said Pete Brant, vice president of enterprise sales at Fortinet, in a statement. "The combination of Fortinet and Infogressive is giving the department a world-class solution that is scalable, cost-effective and easy to manage."
