STORServer, a provider of backup solutions for appliance deployment scenarios, has updated its new entry-level BA machine for office or data center deployments. The company also launched its Enterprise Backup Appliance (EBA) for small- and medium-sized enterprises requiring less than 10TB on up to 1PB (petabyte) of data storage.
The new BA device is powered by a six-core processor server and has 32GB of memory. It features a 15TB disk-based storage pool. Using this server appliance, users can store from 1TB to 7TB of data per backup appliance for office or data center deployments.
The new Enterprise Backup Appliance (EBA) line comes with larger capacities, new options for hardware and software, multiple platform deployment choices, and new network schemes for remote and virtual deployment environments.
In addition to these capabilities, STORServer revealed that its Instant Restore (IR) appliances are now fully compatible with both Windows and Linux environments. Based on IBM (News - Alert) Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack, STORServer's IR Appliance is available in 2U offerings, and backs up and restores applications and user data within minutes while full data recovery runs in the background.
Moreover, STORServer's purpose-built backup appliances for all IBM Tivoli Storage Manager installations allow users to configure and manage their Tivoli Storage Manager environment using a single controller interface. The newly debuted STORServer Console will address the needs for data de-duplication and virtual machine backup requirements.
"We take great pride in offering a line of solutions that help our customers simplify backup of their data in an environment of ever-increasing complexity," said Bill Smoldt, president of STORServer, in a statement. "Our latest round of product upgrades furthers our vision of providing industry-leading backup appliance solutions to the mid-market that solve today's backup, archive and disaster recovery issues once and for all."
