Terascala has just launched its LustreStack software suite that helps to dramatically ramp up appliance deployment. LustreStack-powered storage appliances are designed to optimize the performance of HPC and Fast Data applications without the need for any specialized expertise or compromise on system performance.
Touted as the industry's first software suite and open framework for increasing the time it takes to develop Lustre-based storage appliances based on Intel Xeon processors, LustreStack software enables storage providers to deliver high-throughput, high performance storage appliances.
The company also provides resources for the tight integration of tools to manage Fast Data infrastructure, applications and workflow. The initial LustreStack suite consists of a set of tools for break/fix management of all Lustre file system hardware that includes comprehensive alerting and notification, a rich analytics capability for workload and application optimization, and an open, configurable Lustre Appliance Dashboard.
"LustreStack is the culmination of our seven-plus years of experience developing Lustre tools that are in use in some of the world's most performance-driven environments. Today, industry giants such as Dell (News - Alert) and EMC have validated LustreStack as the answer for quickly delivering world-class solutions to the HPC and Fast Data marketplaces," said Steve Butler, CEO of Terascala, in a statement.
The company, in association with its partners, also plans to add more tools to extend and ease Lustre's adoption into mainstream data centers and applications.
The University of Minnesota recently selected Terascala's LustreStack appliance software to deploy a Lustre solution.
"Terascala's LustreStack appliance software enabled us to deploy a Lustre solution with minimal effort that met our performance and capacity needs just hours after the equipment arrived on site," added Jeff McDonald, assistant director of high performance computing operations at the University of Minnesota, in a statement. "With Terascala, we gain streamlined and simplified Lustre administration and monitoring along with redundant and robust hardware."
