Arkeia Software, a provider of network backup appliance deployment solutions, was selected by Nashville Wire Products (NWP), a provider of wire mesh, retail displays, store fixtures and wire products for the materials handling application.
The NWP backup infrastructure protects 300 workstations and 12 servers, primarily a combination of VMware hypervisors and Windows servers including Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 2003 SP2 and Windows 2008 Enterprise as well as applications that require regular backups such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange with 145GB of data and two Microsoft SQL Server databases.
The two companies ultimately came together to embrace VMware virtualization technologies. NWP also wanted to move from a tape-only environment to a mix of tape and disk storage, as well as deploy its backup server as an appliance to simplify management and improve security of the solution.
"Arkeia gave us everything you would expect from an enterprise-class solution, including support for tapes, deployment as a hardware appliance and protection of both physical and virtual environments," said Robert Miller, NWP System Administrator.
The Arkeia R220 backup appliance deployment solution features an intuitive Web user interface that permits administration from anywhere, and requires minimal training. It features a recovery wizard that makes restoring easier.
By operating independently, the solution has increased robustness and reliability of the NWP’s data protection infrastructure, Miller added.
"For companies looking to move from traditional backup to an all-encompassing solution that covers both physical and virtual environments, Arkeia’s appliances combine hardware and software to deliver maximum performance and reliability," added Bill Evans, Arkeia Software's CEO.
